Blackboard Bistro and catering opened its doors in Spring of 2016 in the former Rosendale Elementary School and served the community with lunches and catering options. In 2017 Blackboard Bistro began their partnership with SUNY Ulster and opened a kiosk at the SUNY Ulster Annex building on Mary’s Ave in Kingston. Blackboard Bistro’s new home is at SUNY Ulster Community College Campus providing food for college students and staff and will also continue to provide catering services to the community. Blackboard Bistro’s extensive catering menu is made fresh and ready for pick up or delivery. Whether it’s for a birthday, a bridal shower or bashower, a company party or a private party, we can satisfy all your catering needs.
Most of our employees are people with intellectual or developmental disabilities. Blackboard Bistro is a place where employees can work in an encouraging environment to learn how to place orders, make salads & sandwiches, prep food, cash customers out, and interact with people in the community. Working here has given employees a sense of pride and feeling valued for their work, but also given them the opportunity to gain valuable food service skills to compete for future employment opportunities in area businesses.
